NEW CMA MEMBER: KASEY LANSDALE
CMA welcomes its newest member, Kasey Lansdale, who signed up for CMA membership on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 as she is celebrating the release of her debut album, Restless.
Lansdale, an East Texas native, calls music her “first love,” and says her earliest memories are singing along to Reba’s Greatest Hits and listening with her dad to the Contours singing Do You Love Me.
She came to Nashville to sing, write and perform after gigging around her home state. She has some serious writing chops, too, and says she has finished her first novel.
Here’s Lansdale, in her own words, describing her love of writing:
“While I consider music and songwriting my first loves, all this creative energy has also trickled down into other projects. Creative writing, whether songs or short stories, is in my blood, and at eight years old I wrote a fictional short story that was published by Random House.
“I was hooked on writing from that point forward. I’ve also done some acting and recently landed a role in a feature film where two of my original songs were chosen to be included on the soundtrack for the film.
“This summer my first anthology, entitled Impossible Monsters, is being released, and I just completed my first novel. Also, Mulholland Publishing just released a novel (written by another author) which includes one of my original songs as a digital download.”
