DAMON WHITESIDE HIRED AS CMA SR VP, MARKETING & PARTNERSHIPS
The Country Music Association announced today that Damon Whiteside has been hired as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships effective Jan. 6, 2014.
“Damon is a highly-accomplished marketing and branding executive with extensive senior level marketing experience and a proven track record,” said CMA President of the Board Ed Hardy. “We are fortunate to have someone with his executive background from Disney, the No. 1 entertainment brand in the world, in this important leadership position at CMA.”
Whiteside will have oversight of CMA’s Marketing Department, which includes Creative Services and Digital, as well as the Research and Strategic Partnerships Departments. Whiteside will report to the recently appointed CEO, Sarah Trahern.

Whiteside is regarded as a marketing and partnerships innovator with a strong reputation for generating marketing value, incremental revenue, and longevity of music, film, TV, and live entertainment franchises. He was responsible for award-winning marketing, creative productions, live events, and digital partnership programs during his tenure with numerous Disney-owned companies including Disney Music Group, Walt Disney Studios, Disney Channel, and Disney Consumer Products.
Some of his notable accomplishments include leading multi-platform marketing and partnership campaigns that achieved more than 100 No. 1 albums, radio singles, concert tours, films, and TV series. This success was driven by Whiteside’s ability to work in partnership with artists, labels, producers, and talent representatives in Country, Pop,
Adult Contemporary, R&B, Jazz, and New Age to deliver best-in-class marketing and creative productions for countless superstar-level artists including Christina Aguilera, Colbie Caillatt, Kelly Clarkson, Phil Collins, Sheryl Crow, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Barry Manilow, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Rob Thomas, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Wynonna, Yanni and many more. In addition, he developed brand and retail strategies for the world’s largest franchises including Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, Toy Story, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical, each generating more than $3 billion in retail sales. He also served on Disney’s Corporate Brand Management and Synergy Executive Committees which identified and set strategy for the top franchise and marketing priorities across the Company.
Since 2011, he has served as CMO, Brands and Talent, at Nomad Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, where he developed marketing, digital strategy, brand development, partnerships, TV and digital content production, music licensing, and celebrity talent relations for entertainment brand clients, music artists, producers, and songwriters.
His professional affiliations include NARAS, Music Business Association/NARM, CMA, Digital LA, CMO Club, American Marketing Association, Promotion Marketing Association, among others. Whiteside currently serves on the West Coast Board of Directors for the TJ Martell Foundation. In 2013 he completed the Executive Program at the renowned UCLA Anderson School of Management.
