The CMA Songwriters Series wrapped up a successful 2013 season with two nights of sold-out performances at Joe’s Pub in New York City on Dec. 4 and 5.

Guests included hit songwriters Deana Carter (“Strawberry Wine,” “We Danced Anyway,” and co-writer on “You & Tequila” by Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter), Rory Feek of Joey+Rory (Blake Shelton’s “Some Beach” and Colin Raye’s “Someone You Used To Know”), James Otto (“Just Got Started Loving You” and co-writer on Zac Brown Band’s “No Hurry”), James Slater (Jamey Johnson’s “High Cost of Living”, Rascal Flatts’ “Unstoppable” and Martina McBride’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes”), and host and CMA Board member Bob DiPiero (“Little Rock” by Reba, “Cowboys Like Us” by George Strait, and “Gone” by Montgomery Gentry). Special guest Valerie Broussard joined James Slater on stage.

The CMA Songwriters Series showcases the best of Country’s mega-hit songwriters. Each night of the series features successful songwriters, who line up on stage and, with guitar in-hand, take turns telling the stories behind their hit songs and performing them in the raw as originally written.
