CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS GROWS RATINGS
Last night, Country music’s biggest stars boosted Christmas spirit as well as positive ratings during the airing of CMA Country Christmas on ABC. The special was hosted for the fourth year in a row by Country star Jennifer Nettles and included an impressive lineup of performers including Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts.
One highlight included a surprise duet featuring Jennifer Nettles and Mary J. Blige, singing “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “Winter Wonderland”. Another memorable duet was between Luke Bryan and Willie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty”, singing “Hairy Christmas” from the Robertsons’ newest Christmas album, Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas.
The television special also took us inside the tour bus of Hunter Hayes where he did a special performance of “Let It Snow”. It was also an exciting night for Pretty Little Liars actress, Lucy Hale, who gave a stunning performance of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” which was ahead of her debut Country single release in January.
This year’s CMA Country Christmas was very popular among viewers across the nation, considering total viewers were up by 26% from last year’s airing. The special’s 7.3 million viewers made ABC the second most watched broadcaster on Monday night and became CMA Country Christmas’ second best numbers to date. ABC also noted a significant increase in viewers for the lead-in program, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.
