CMA PRESENTS RESEARCH SESSION AT CRS

The Country Music Association presented a session on radio’s path to the future today during the annual Country Radio Seminar. The session, entitled “Building a Strong Brand No Matter What Technology Does,” was presented by veteran media strategist Mark Ramsey of Mark Ramsey Media and Karen Stump, CMA’s Senior Director of Market Research.

Ramsey advised radio programmers to build a strong brand by realizing that “it only matters if your audience thinks it matters.” Key strategies that are critical to minimizing risks of disruption in today’s media landscape include:

  • Focusing on unique and compelling content
  • Focus on “HITS” that are exclusive to your brand and meaningful to your audience
  • Invest for a future return – make sizeable investments in the future rather than spreading an available budget across multiple initiatives.

“At the end of the day, you have to go big or go home to have a winning brand,” said Ramsey.
