“Don’t worry, we’re professionals.”

Hunter Hayes let surprised onlookers know that he and his band had everything under control during his unannounced Friday afternoon performance in front of Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center lawn.

The crowd swelled quickly and soon surrounded all sides of the small stage.

“We just sat down,” said Stephanie Galdez, 24, and Kristen Yannotta, 30, of Province, Rhode Island. Both just happened to be taking a break from their long day of activities on the steps of the Symphony Center when they realized that Hayes was about to perform. Being Hayes fans, neither left her seat, both hoping to hear him play “I Want Crazy.”

The rising star chose to make his appearance because he wanted to show his fans that he truly appreciates their loyalty. Throughout the performance, he continuously thanked his supporters.

Hayes introduced his band before ending with “I Want Crazy.” Galdez and Yannotta got their wish.

After finishing, Hayes was escorted off the stage. But before running completely out of sight, he paused to touch one fan’s extended hand, capturing her cell phone and turning it around for a quick selfie. With a look of admiration shining brightly on lucky teenage girl’s face, she joined the rest of the fans as they dispersed to other CMA Fest adventures.
