LABELS FLAUNT NEW FEMALE TALENT AT FAN FAIR X

During the week of CMA Music Festival, the Billboard charts featured 21 male artists in their top 25 Hot Country Songs Ranking. But at least two major labels, Sony Music Nashville and Big Machine Label Group, are looking to shake up those numbers a little.

Sony’s Record Label Preview on Friday featured Leah Turner, who recently released her second single, “Pull Me Back”. This feisty Californian sat down with Chase Rice for a game of Battle of the Sexes. Determined and driven, she fearlessly fought to answer male-oriented questions about cars, beer and hardware, unwavering in her competitiveness.

The next day, Big Machine introduced two new female acts.

RaeLynn was a contestant on the voice and has gone on to sign a record deal for an album that is set to be released later this year. She embraces her femininity, rocking larger-than-life, girly, Texas outfits and singing of her experiences as a young girl growing up. Her single “God Made Girls,” contrasts her feminine qualities and her tough attitude.

As flagship artists on Big Machine’s newly revived Dot imprint, Maddie and Tae confront this issue head-on in their upcoming single, “Girl In A Country Song.” “These girls in the videos are like smokin’ hot and that’s a lot of expectation to live up to,” they noted. “You don’t get to hear about how the girl feels in these songs wearing her cutoff jeans and shaking her moneymaker.”
