VIDEO: DOLLY PARTON AT GLASTONBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL
Shortly before taking to the Pyramid Stage at England’s historic Glastonbury Music Festival in England, CMA Country Music Hall of Fame member Dolly Parton received a special award commemorating her sales of 100 million albums worldwide.
“I’ve been so busy making records for the past several decades, I didn’t realize I had racked up so many sales,” she admitted to attendees at her pre-performance press conference. “What a great honor to know that I have so many fans that have supported me through the years. Thanks to the RIAA for the acknowledgment and the plaque I feel very honored and proud.”
Parton’s concert before 100,000 spectators at Glastonbury is just one of a series of triumphs she has enjoyed during her ongoing European tour. Her latest album, Blue Smoke, debuted at No. 6 on June 15, her highest-ever position on U.K. charts.
Stops on her “Blue Smoke Tour” dates include Cologne, Germany, on July 5; Berlin, Germany, on July 6; Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 8; Oslo, Norway, on July 9; Stockholm, Sweden, on July 11; and Locarno, Switzerland, on July 14.
